Today we began in Rocky Mount, NC. We went through western Virginia into West Virginia. The mountiains were quite impressive, and we saw some little mine towns in the valleys of West Virginia. Apparently the people who don't work in the coal mines do road work, because the entire interstate system is being worked on throughout the state.
The scenery was less impressive once we entered Kentucky, but those people really like their horses. We went through Lexington and eventually into Louisville. We stopped there for dinner, and then we crossed the border into Indiana. Jacob used the GPS to find a Caesar's Palace casino just across the border. It was a cool setup, because the casino was suspended over a big body of water. We're guessing there is some law in Indiana that prevents land casinos, but I'm way too tired to research it right now. He ended up making $141 playing $1/$2 no limit holdem, and I carried on our tradition of putting $1 in a slot machine. I hit the highest payout on the machine and cashed out for $9.40. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like playing poker after driving for 10 hours. At least Jake made enough to basically cover day one.
Tomorrow we continue our current heading towards the Badlands. We'll be there in a few days. Then maybe I'll have some good pictures to share.
Later,
Matt

"Casinos Allowed? Riverboat gambling legal in counties contiguous to Lake Michigan, Ohio River, and Patoka Lake."
Ash
Thanks for that Ash. We deduced that was probably the case, but we unsure. I just thought it was some annoying corporate policy for all the casino employees to keep saying "welcome aboard." I didn't realize they were trying to keep up the pretenses that we were somehow on a boat.
