Today Lasted 25 Hours...

...and we needed all the time we could get. The day started in Louisville, and we crossed the border back into Indiana to continue west. After passing through Indiana, we entered Illinois. If nobody told me any better, I would only be left to assume that it always rains over that boring landscape. All that followed for about 400 miles was a driving rain storm and endless fields. If there were any midwestern farmer's daughters around, I certainly didn't find them.

The rain followed us into Missouri, but let up long enough for us to get some decent shots of the St. Louis Arch. Once the rain finally backed off, the rolling hills heading from Missouri into Iowa were more tolerable than the rest of the drive. We saw a cell phone tower at one point and wondered who could possibly benefit, because all we had seen for 100 miles was one cow.

We ended up in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Jacob spotted a few casinos in the area, and we packed it in for the night. He's over at the Horseshoe casino right now playing $1/$3 no limit.

As I mentioned earlier, we have a few pictures of the Arch. I've also included a few shots of "slanting rays" that we thought were cool as the sun set behind some clouds in Iowa.

Tomorrow will probably be another day of driving in desolate country as we head toward South Dakota. Things should get considerably more interesting after that.

Later,
Matt
